CIDETEC Energy Storage is a research and development organization specializing in advanced battery technologies, designing, developing and testing the batteries of the future for 25 years, located in San Sebastián, Spain.

The activity covers the entire value chain from battery chemistry to final application. We design and develop cells, modules and battery packs tailored to our customers’ needs, with a clear commitment towards technology transfer to industry, bridging the gap between research and industry. CIDETEC has unique capabilities in Europe to test and characterize batteries, model and predict their duration with specific usage profiles, as well as to adequately size different systems, offering technological services for material validation, pilot plant manufacturing, battery engineering and testing.

With over 25 years of relevant work experience in the field of batteries, the EPISODE project is an excellent opportunity for CIDETEC to participate in launching a productive and cost-competitive European non-lithium battery value chain and to lay a fundament for industrial production of sodium (Na)-ion batteries. Furthermore, EPISODE opens new avenues for CIDETEC to assist industries in scaling up this promising battery technology, thereby expanding its portfolio of technology licensing projects. These collaborations will span a range of industry partners, including battery material producers, battery manufacturers, and end-users, driving the adoption and industrialization of advanced energy storage solutions.

CIDETEC will develop and optimise the electrode formulation for cathode materials, small scale cell assembly and testing. Besides, CIDETEC will carry out the optimization of cell components development in a dry environment and transfer the electrode process key aspects to collaborators.

CIDETEC will focus on optimizing the electrode formulation for cathode materials, including their preparation, fabrication, and performance testing. This work will involve refining the composition and properties of the materials to maximize their efficiency and reliability. Additionally, CIDETEC will lead the development and optimization of cell components, ensuring their compatibility and effectiveness within the battery architecture.
